Integrated capacity and production planning in the pharmaceutical supply chain: Framework and models

Production planning is widely studied, and mathematical formulations have been proposed for various problems. The capacity level usually fixed which requires a separate solution of the problem. In this paper, methodology setting up solving integrated production problems given manufacturing network. Mixed-integer linear programming are assembled from constraint objectives database based on system characterization their determines whether levels should be changed. An indirect approach to problem suggested, in required capacities determined with no knowledge specific ways how could changed corresponding an early stage planning. This contrasts traditional direct approach, set options subset these chosen through optimization. applied three case studies primary pharmaceutical manufacturing. A literature example used validate method two larger show method's ability solve industrial scale relevance.
